Inspiration for the next retro photo shoot.
At the RedBubble Christmas get together recently, held at Big Mouth, St Kilda (photos here & here) - Jo and I planned for our next photo shoot ideas!
To be held during the month of February (we don’t waste time do we!?), we will be doing a “Pirate Pin-Up” theme (ahoy thar me matey!) and some sort of 50s airline hostess / pin-up theme, involving a pop-riveted, polished aluminum DC3, kindly organised by a guy I met at a Christmas break up at the Bower Boutique, Seddon (thanks Mark!).
So I’ve been looking at pirate themed images on the net, particularly pin-ups and costumes. Here’s just some of my gorgeous findings:

RedBubble Xmas meet at Big Mouth, St Kilda
What an awesome night, meeting a load of RedBubblers for the first time! It was a horribly rainy night, roads flooded and fallen trees blocking streets. If it wasn’t for my weather chart savvy husband who said “the worst is over” - I was going to stay home instead of going out.
The theme was “Christmas, wear something tacky and silly”. So I put on my black + white polka dot dress, frilly petticoat complete with huge red bow on the back. I knew at least Jo would have worn something tacky too.
Did anyone else look Christmassy? Did anyone else look remotely tacky?
NO!
Oh for heaven’s sake. Well, can’t say I didn’t make an entrance!

A very wet night in Melbourne.

Yours Truly, looking very cheesy.

Retro photo shoot #4
The day had finally arrived! The photo shoot with the ‘57 Cadillac Coupe DeVille!!! This is our “Bad Girl” theme - denim capri pants, 50’s sunglasses, cigarettes, spray paint, vandalized locations, checkered racing flags and of course, the Cadillac.
Jo an I had so much fun and Paul Vanzella, the car’s owner, had a ball too. Why wouldn’t he? He got to drive us ladies around ;o)
Here’s a few “behind the scenes” photos that Paul took for us (click to enlarge):

John’s Hot Rod Show - Rain, rain and more rain…
Yes, we went to the Hot Rod show on the weekend…
No, I didn’t take any photos…
Yes, the rockabilly bands were fantastic…
No, there weren’t over 2,500 cars there that day…
Yes, we got saturated…
No, it wasn’t as packed with people as I had imagined…
Yes, I can’t wait for next year’s event so that I CAN take photos…
On a better note, my Christmas cards have been selling well!
